Tips To Help You Succeed At Guerilla Marketing During Tradeshows – Part 2
14 September 2016, Posted by Trade Shows on Trade Shows

In the first part of our series on guerilla marketing, we looked at ways that you can get people excited about your brand before the tradeshow has even begun. Part 2 looks at ways that you can attract people to your booth and get them to stay there long enough to get your message across. Remember that you’re trying to surprise and excite your audience, so thinking outside of the box is a must.

  1. Wireless Charging Stations. Many of us are glued to our smartphones and other mobile devices, so it can be pretty annoying when they run out of battery. Offer a wireless charging station to get visitors to your booth (you won’t have to worry about having the right connectors).

  2. Contests and Raffles. An oldie but a goodie, hold a contest or a raffle with a prize that people want to win (it should also relate to your business, like a free photo session if you’re a photographer). It should be quick and easy to enter – ask for minimal details.

  3. Branded Water or Confectionary. People love confectionary – and if they don’t, they’re sure to have a partner or child who does. Why not leave visitors with a good taste in their mouth (see what we did there?) by placing a bowl of gum, mints, lollies or chocolates on the desk.

  4. Use Social Media. Why not incentivise people to tweet or post something about your booth (even better if you can get them to include a photo). It could be a condition of entering your contest (see above) or you could offer merchandise to those who get a certain amount of likes.

  5. Attractive Merchandise. If you’re handing out branded merchandise (such as hats and t-shirts), make sure they’re attractive and something people will actually want to wear. Keep these items on display, as it’ll ensure that your staff doesn’t forget to hand them out. And, if you’re handing out clothing, one of the conditions of giving it to someone is that they wear it immediately.

  6. Popcorn Stall. No one can resist the delicious aroma of fresh popcorn, so why not hire a machine for your booth? Visitors will follow their nose all the way to your stand. The crunchy kernels are also a perfect giveaway, leaving people with warm fuzzy feelings about your brand.

We hope that the above tips have given you a few ideas of how guerilla marketing can work in your favour at an upcoming tradeshow. Check out Part 1 of this series if you haven’t already and be sure to keep an eye out for Part 3, which focuses on ways to draw attention to your brand outside of the overall premises.
